Hello!
Hope you all enjoyed the Easter weekend!
The recording of our debut album over the last four months has been a very creative and enjoyable process for all involved. We are feeling really positive about the results, and very excited about the times that lay ahead.
We have recorded in various magical locations around Ireland from Bastardstown to Monkstown (see a slideshow of some of the photos taken along the way on the myspace page http://www.myspace.com/odimusic).
We are now at the stage of adding the musical "hundreds and thousands" to the 14 songs we have recorded!
During the Easter week we had the great pleausure of working with a musical hero of ours, Colm MacConlomaire of The Frames / Swell Season, on string arrangements for four of the album tracks.
The time spent with Colm has really enabled us to explore further the songs and add another dimension to the overall sound of the album. A great talent and a true gent! Visit Colm's Myspace page at www.myspace.com/theharescorner
With only a few bits an bobs left to do, the debut ODi album will be mixed and mastered by the end of April! Exciting times ahead!
Full details of release plans to follow but at the mo we are heading for a September Album Release in Ireland with first
single in June! (all releases will be available worldwide via itunes and our new website which is in the pipeline!)
So now to the hard bit! Choosing the album tracks and running order, oh and the
small matter of an Album title!....watch this space!
Gigs, gigs, gigs!

No, not the band but a delivery of a small brown package that was received at ODi HQ this morning, after entering a competition to win a years supply of Dark Hot Chocolate, yours truly actually won! Although, we are currently debating if 6 plastic tubs does actually equal a years supply... not sure on that one, we will let you know after a year on the road and a cuppa every night before lights out!! Rock n Roll eh!? Do come along, free hot chocolate for everyone!!!
Bye for now!

P.S. Check out the new animated video below for 'Crawl' created by Tutu Benson.
How are yas!
So we made it over the Irish sea all in one piece, although poor old ‘Flash’ the car is looking a bit worse for wear and is unstylishly taped up on one side to prevent the window from disappearing into the depths of the door, never to be seen again. Oh such fun times.
.. ..
Anyways, we’re keeping ourselves busy and getting the album ready to lay down but fear not you wont have to wait too long to hear it. We’ll be putting up snippets on the brand new spanking website www.odimusic.co.uk as we go along just so you don’t forget us. Check it out if you get the chance and join up in the members area to catch all the gossip and latest freebies. Although I must warn those of you with internet explorer there’s a bit of a glitch in the system which is being dealt with but in case you’ve any probs just let me know.
.. ..
So some of you may know already but for those who don’t, we’re supporting Tom Baxter on Sunday night (Nov 23rd) at Electric Avenue in Waterford..... I do believe there’s still some tickets left which you can get from www.ticketmaster.ie .
It should be a great gig, I’m really looking forward to it and just slightly nervous!
Talking about great gigs we’ve just been asked to support Eleanor McEvoy on 21st Jan in Brazils Café Bar in Clonmel. Cant wait for that one either! Its good to be home! Dont know about tickets for that yet but will let ye know.
I better also mention that we’ll be celebrating the New Year in Ilkley at Pizza Express!! Should be good fun with a mixture of originals and covers, good people, good wine, good food and good times! Any requests, just let us know and we’ll give it a bash, quite literally and hopefully you'll be too drunk to notice!
Alrighty then, just a short message this time, will write again when we're a bit more settled and if we can find a broadband connection, its not easy you know! Thanks to everyone for all your lovely messages of support and well wishing, we’ll certainly miss you all especially in Leeds but we’ve already booked 3 return trips before the end of the year so it’ll be like we never left the place!
Take care of yourselves and hopefully we’ll see you out and about very soon!
Tarah for now!

Adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu….
Well, sort of! Some of you may know, others may
not but we’ve decided the time has come to head off into the sun, well maybe
not the sun exactly but we’re definitely heading ‘Into The West’. Unfortunately
no magical horses will be involved on this trip but we will be bringing a little
Jack Russel who’s known to strum a chord or 2 when ‘Dave the Rave’ is away
working on his solo project with his homies! Word up bro!
(I know it may seem like I have too much time on my hands but the alternative to this was filling out a tax return!)
Ok so I admit photoshop’s not my forte but here’s a man that
does know a thing or two about red eye reduction, bleaching and all that other
photoshop madness taken at the recent gig we did with our friend Eoghan Colgan at
the House Concerts gig in York.

Our last gig ( I seem to be saying that quite a lot recently) of the year will be with Marky Mark, that’s Mark Geary to you lot (www.markgeary.com) on 31st Oct at The Stables in Mullingar. He’s a brilliant performer with plenty of good 'speel' and good tunes to back it all up with. Funnily enough on my recent solo trip down to London I pleasantly met a friend of Mark’s called Maria, who's a very talented person (see here www.myspace.com/mariaslovakovasounds)
and kindly took a few snaps and a video recording of ‘A Superman’ . See below!
Some reviews have just come in too so you can see if you agree or disagree!
Reviewer: Dan Hobson (Sept 2008)
Fresh from a thirty date Irish tour the ultra hard-working Wexford woman ODi is back in England for more gigs in aid of her latest release A Superman. Playing traditionally styled folk songs in a modern, cutting-edge way (I like that bit) ODi provides the listener with heartfelt, soulful songs that are perfect for winding down to.
The EP starts with title track A Superman and sets the mood brilliantly. With excellent chord progressions, perfectly sung vocal patterns and a bold string section this track builds flawlessly to its ultimate climax. With similarities to Dido and perhaps Sheryl Crow I'd say that anybody into mellow acoustic music will lap up ODi. Up next What You Deserve demonstrates how well these musicians gel together. With two beautiful guitar riffs playing and more perfectly sung vocals this track has some great melodies, a sensual vibe and is my standout on the EP. Tears & Wine is a poignant song that appears to be about ending a doomed relationship and drinking to forget about it. Lyrics such as like the pictures she paints, he left her black and blue show ODi at her most poetic. A Superman finishes with another live radio session of the slightly surreal Leaving My Love In New York. Summoning imagery of Autumnal city streets this is a smooth outro to an excellent CD.
There's a lot of acoustic artists out there at the minute, but ODi just seems to have that certain something that will hopefully make her stand out from the crowd. Worth a listen! ………..www.sheffieldmusic.com

P.S. No animals were harmed in the making of this blog!
....is not the title of the next ODi song (although now you mention it...) but the name of the funniest T.V. program I've seen in a long time! So last week I was over in Roma for a few days at one of my best friend's wedding and whilst nursing a (very over indulged in red wine, white wine and any other coloured wine left on the table) sore head the next day I flicked on the telly and was engrossed by what I think may have been Italian karyoke (apologies to any Italian popstars on the show if this was not the case) and really badly mimed, even I noticed (I grew up thinking Top Of The Pops was live, ok)! For extra comedy factor the audience were also on stage singing (and miming) with the contestants who consisted of what looked like the singer's aunts, uncles, grannies and other various extended family members plus 2 extremely short-skirted cousins with cowboy hats and boots! I have no idea what was going on but it was the best cure for a sore head I've ever had, just brilliant! Has anyone else seen this or was I just having another Father Dougal moment??
Right, so whats going on back in the real world then?
Well the Eps been selling nicely, thanks to everyone whose downloaded
it, bought it, burnt it (naughty naughty, but ok, so long as you
promise to come to a gig the next time) or sat on it. Cheers! If you
dont know what the hec Im on about then check out the front page again
and press a few buttons on the new frustratingly annoying player,
you'll eventually get to it! Needless to say, but Im going to anyway,
you can get it at the following gigs at bargain prices and even more so
if you're good at haggling at which Im not (my haggling skills were
taught to me at a very young age from watching 'The Life Of Brian' so
you'll probably end up getting one for free).

P.S. Last chance to catch us in Dublin this year will be at Whelans, 20th August so hope to see you there!
So, what's happening then? Well the tour is underway and going rather smashingly well! We somehow managed to get our first national radio airplay on Tony Fentons show on Today FM last Friday and celebrated until the wee hours of 7.30am, rock 'n' roll, so will be in touch very soon asking you lovely lot to help us blag another play or two, although 'im not sure my liver or head could handle the celebrations afterwards!! Favourite gig so far has been at Sarsfields (Bagfull of Songs) in Drogheda and not just because we won a raffle prize of a collection of Cds (including a Metal Hammer Cd) which will keep us awake on our travels in 'The Flash' (pet name for the Renault clio) but mainly for the great crowd, great atmosphere and great music which was all organised by Tom, so a big thanks goes out to him and everyone else that joined in, including Mr Gary Stewart for jumping on the drums for an impromptu accompaniment!
On the 'Superman' side of things we are bringing the digital release date in Ireland forward a week to the 08.08.08! Oooh-er! Just because we seem to enjoy making life more difficult for ourselves on a regular basis these days and also because of it's apparent lucky and magical powers, well if it's lucky in China then that's good enough for me! So, all you Superhero wannabees out there (myself included) you'll have the chance to download the Ep a week earlier than previously planned. But even better than that, gig goers can get their supermitts on a CD at the following gigs...

27 Jul 2008 Ballyknockan Music Festival , Nr. Blessington

Lastly but not leastly, a few podcasts worth a mention. The first being on East Leeds FM which features a recording of the new song 'Real To Me', see here www.elfm.co.uk/2008/05/odi/ and a new podcast called Road Crew Radio (www.roadcrewcomic.com) hosted by the designer of the villainess picture on myspace (www.myspace.com.odimusic). Also worth a mention is a recent article in the Arran Voice which can be read here...
Right that's enough of that for now,I’ll be asking ye to use your supermagical powers of persuasion to help us get some more radio play in the next few weeks so if you’ve got any hints or tips on who to pester then let us know!
Slan go foil!

So I think we can safely say summer’s finally arrived, time to chuck out the woolly jumpers and hot water bottles and in with the flip flops, sun-creams and bikinis, well maybe that’s pushing it a bit but I’m feeling positive today so why the hell not! In fact, every day should be a flip-flop day in more ways than one! Hmm, I might just write a song about it, will get back to you on that one, or maybe not!
Right then, enough gibberish, what’s happening I hear you ask? Well, we’re just finalising the next Ep cover in all it’s Supermanlyness and getting it ready to send off to the ears of the nation. I hope you’ll like it and add it to your ODi CD collection!
Track listing will be:
(i) A Superman
(ii) What You Deserve
(iii) Tears & Wine
(iv) Crawl (Acoustic)
(v) Leaving My Love In New York (Acoustic)
It’ll be available for download and in actual CD format so whatever your preference there’ll be no excuses not to get your mitts on a copy or two or even a few!
Talking about downloads and free ones at that, get yourselves over to www.wovenwheatwhispers.co.uk and check out the featured releases section. Here you will find Various Artists - Showcase Sessions 1: Songsmiths which is a selection of singer/songwriter tunes put together for you to enjoy for free! It also includes the recent ‘Crawl’ b-side ‘Don’t Let Me Fall’, so what you waiting for, give it a click!
On another folky note, ‘What You Deserve’ is currently ‘MP3 of the week’ on The Durbervilles BBC Leeds Radio Show which you can listen to until Sunday on the BBC Leeds website. A big thanks goes out to the lads for the mention!
Next up to mention are gigs, gigs and more gigs! This month we will be hitting the
following places so if any are in your town, do come down and show some love or
even a handshake!
8 May 2008 The Racket @The Old Queens Head, London
10 May 2008 Acosutic Revolution @ Whitelocks, Ma Gamps Bar, Leeds
18 May 2008 The Lounge, Leeds
23 May 2008 Eden Lodge, Isle Of Arran
26 May 2008 Feed The Monkey @ jrink soho, London
31 May 2008 Night & Day Cafe (Hide & Seek Festival), Manchester
Lastly, a quick mention of our recent trip to the Isle of Arran (see pic). We hopped over to a fundraising concert to help raise some pennies for a new hospice on Arran. Unfortunately as it has made front page news in The Arran Voice paper, we will be wearing heavy shades and big hats on our next Arran visit, along with an Alsation body guard in tow, well maybe just a ginger Jack Russel who think’s she’s an Alsation, which is just as scary when she wants a chew!
RIghtyo, thats enough talking from me for this month, enjoy yourselves in the sun, stay happy and see you soon!

Lastly, here's a recent review of the single from 'The Music Review'!
'What You Deserve'
REVIEW
Odi (short for Claire Odium fact finders) is an ex-pat Irish girl now based in the UK. She is a singer/songwriter who manages to blend elements of Joan Armatrading's pathos, Beth Orton's eye for the quirky and deep with a touch of Dido's bedsit romance. She has released a new single, 'What You Deserve' a slow, soulful slice of folk/indie cross-over. Odi has a distinctive raw and in equal measure, fragile voice that is magnetic and immensely listenable. The single reminds me of 'Love and Affection' by the aforementioned Joan Armatrading and oozes warmth and intimacy. All this talent and good looks too - so why isn't she signed? Well with the raft of gigs coming up in the UK and Ireland and the quality of the single, you'd think it wasn't far off.
Review by Drumhead
Rank: ***** 5 out of 6
P.S. Thanks to all who have showed their support for the single so far, it's still available to download on most major download sites but for those of you not so tecky minded it will also be featured on the new 'A Superman' E.P. in July.
Other news in the camp includes becoming the first official winner of Songpeople Buzz!! If you remember last year we managed to bag a top 10-spot on the SongPeople Unsigned / MTV partnership comp, well it turns out we also managed to get to number one, so we're all off to celebrate big style at the local deli. Dave's still undecided what he's having but Im going to go with a big slice of wensleydale cheese with apple spice and chutney! Yeah! Rock 'n' roll!
While we're on the subject of awards, we've been kindly nominated by Cool Acoustics for an Indy award so if you wouldnt mind voting for us at http://www.indyawards.co.uk/2008/artist_voting.php?artists=O we'd be ever so grateful!
Ok so we're about to hit the road again for some more tour dates this month, hope to see you all at one or two!
